For those seeking transfers by taxi:

The venue is approximately half an hour south of Edinburgh city centre. We suggest contacting:

  • United Private Hire (0131 660 0011) – a local taxi firm to Dalhousie. They provide discounted rates for customers staying in local B&B’s, but are also happy to pick people up from Edinburgh city centre and Edinburgh airport – the cost respectively would be £22 and £32. It is fine to call on the day (albeit please leave plenty of time to reach you and return to Dalhousie). Advance bookings are preferable (especially if meeting you off your flight at Edinburgh airport).
  • D&D Private Hire (01875 820477) is another local firm to Dalhousie, providing local journeys and journeys to the city centre.
  • Alternatively, you may wish to contact private hire firm Festival City Cars (0131 552 1777). They are quoting approx. £22 from the centre of town to Dalhousie (whether a car or people carrier) and payment can be via cash or credit card. Ask for a 10% discount at the end of the journey.
  • Other city based cab companies include City Cabs (0131 228 1211), Central Taxis (0131 229 2468), and Com Cabs (0131 272 8000). These are black cabs and can be hailed, but please be aware that they are likely to be more expensive.
For those providing their own transport:

By car from Edinburgh

Follow the City Bypass, and at the Sheriffhall Roundabout take the Galashiels / Newtongrange / Gorebridge exit for the A7(S). Follow signs for Galashiels / Hawick, going straight over 3 roundabouts (taking the middle lane as you approach the 3rd roundabout). At the fourth roundabout turn right towards Bonnyrigg (onto the B6392) – at this point you will see a sign for Dalhousie Castle. At the next roundabout turn left towards Gorebridge (onto the B704), and follow the road passing a church on your left. The turning into Dalhousie Castle is on the left before the bridge / traffic lights. Follow the road down the hill (only noticing the speed bumps far too late!), and then park up to join the party! (The castle entrance is at the top of the left hand driveway where it forks into two).

By car from Edinburgh Airport

If approaching from Edinburgh airport, keep in the left hand lane as you pass under the RBS bridge and approach a rather large roundabout (called Gogarburn Roundabout). Take the 3rd exit off the roundabout joining the Edinburgh City Bypass (A720) (heading towards Berwick upon Tweed). Keep travelling on the Bypass passing 6 potential exit points: A71 / Kilmarnock, Dreghorn Junction, Lothianburn Junction, Straiton Junction, Lasswade Junction, Gilmerton Junction. As you approach the next junction (called the Sheriffhall Roundabout), stay in the outside lane and follow lane markings for the A7(S). Take the 5th exit off signposted to Galashiels / Newtongrange / Gorebridge A7. And then follow signs for Galashiels / Hawick…(following the directions specified above under ‘By car from Edinburgh’).

By car from Glasgow

If approaching from the M8, carry on to the very end joining the Edinburgh City Bypass by taking the 3rd exit off the roundabout onto the A720 (heading towards Berwick upon Tweed). The pass the next 5 potential exit points: Dreghorn Junction, Lothianburn Junction, Straiton Junction, Lasswade Junction, Gilmerton Junction.

Oh, nearly forgot to mention, for all you rich and wealthy southerners, there is a heli-pad on site at Dalhousie if you wish to use that!
